Welcome to Rapid Characterisation of Earthquakes and Tsunami (R-CET)!
Rapid Characterisation of Earthquakes and Tsunamis (R-CET) is a GNS-led research project investigating new data processing methods to improve analysis of earthquake and tsunami data as it is received. By accelerating how quickly the data can be processed, it is possible to give more accurate tsunami evacuation warnings and run-up estimates. Additionally, we are installing new instrumentation in Aotearoa and other countries around the southwestern Pacific Ocean to ensure we have more data to allow for near real-time processing that outputs more targeted outputs.
